Long ago, a grizzled Marine suited up as Santa Claus and, with the same flair as that gent from the North Pole, he thrilled a little girl on a brisk December morning at Cherry Point air station.
The helicopter hovered above as I saw his white-gloved hands waving to all us anxious kids screaming from below; I could hardly breathe with the excitement of a new toy and an actual visit from Santa Claus....
